Trump v. Anderson
The Supreme Court heard arguments this morning on the constitutionality of the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision banning Donald Trump from the ballot under the 14th Amendment’s Insurrection Clause. We expect a quick decision. The questioning from the justices strongly suggests that former President Trump will prevail.
Commentators across the spectrum agreed that even two of the court’s liberals, Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, seemed unconvinced by the argument that the 14th Amendment prevents Donald Trump from appearing on the ballot.
As Professor Jonathan Turley, an expert on constitutional law, noted, “Some of the toughest and most skeptical questions came from the left of the court.”
In order to get the largest possible majority, the justices may issue a narrow ruling that avoids some of the bigger issues involved in this case. But, in my opinion, it is clear that the Insurrection Clause does not apply.
That clause was written after the Civil War, after multiple states raised an army and fought a war that killed 600,000 Americans in an effort to split the nation in half. That’s what the clause was written to address, not a raucous riot on Capitol Hill.
Don’t forget that Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney and the rest of that gang started using the word “insurrection” within days of January 6th because they already had their eye on exactly the situation we’re facing right now.
I believe that lends credence to the idea that the riot was allowed to happen. We know that significant intelligence was ignored by security officials.
We know that Trump offered to deploy the National Guard days before and that a request by the Capitol Police for an early National Guard deployment was denied.
We know Pelosi’s kangaroo court brought in a Big Media executive to turn the hearings into a “made for TV special.”
We know the January 6th Committee destroyed documents when it was ordered to preserve them.
But here’s the bottom line: Progressives are claiming that the biggest issue in this election is protecting democracy. Yet progressives in multiple states are attempting to kick a leading presidential candidate off the ballot or throw him in jail before the election.
Some on the far left regularly fantasize about Trump dying in prison. And yet they are running around claiming they want to unite the country and that they are the “tolerant” and “compassionate” ones.
Yes, there is a real threat to our democratic process and to our constitutional republic. But it’s not coming from conservatives.
Trump Responds
Former President Donald Trump held a press conference at Mar-a-Lago following the conclusion of today’s arguments before the Supreme Court. He condemned the “weaponization of politics” and the law, but added that he has faith in America.
Trump said, “I’m a believer in our country and I’m a believer in the Supreme Court. I listened today and I thought our arguments were very, very strong.”
Biden’s Health
There is growing concern that President Biden is failing mentally and unable to perform at the level needed to lead the most important country in the world.
In the past few days, Biden has referred to conversations he had with the leaders of France and Germany at a G7 Summit shortly after becoming president.
First, he told us that he spoke with French President Francois Mitterrand. But Mitterrand died nearly 30 years ago.
Yesterday, while speaking at two New York City fundraisers, Biden told the audience that he spoke with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl about the January 6th riot at the same G7 meeting. But Kohl died four years before that meeting.
Any day now, I expect Biden to tell us that he just had a really great conversation with Winston Churchill!
By the way, Biden also forgot the name of the terrorist group, Hamas. You know, the radical Islamists our ally Israel has been fighting for the past four months after they murdered more than 1,000 innocent Israelis.
The American people see Biden’s decline. A recent NBC News poll found that 76% of Americans have serious concerns about Biden’s mental and physical abilities.
Biden’s family, his staff at the White House, Democrats in Congress -- someone needs to step up and tell the president to do the right thing by stepping down.
Policies Matter
I want to make something absolutely clear: While the health of presidential candidates is important, it’s policies that matter most. And we should all be focused on stopping the neo-Marxist policies that are destroying America.
Open borders. Massive deficit spending. Runaway inflation. Abortion on demand. A weak foreign policy. Environmental extremism. Race baiting -- trying to turn us against one another based on the color of our skin. Pushing insane gender ideology on our kids. Radical appointments to the courts and every government agency.
The list goes on and on.
The country needs to go in a totally different direction. And the American people overwhelmingly believe our country is headed in the wrong direction.
Fighting For Election Integrity
Molly Hemingway, editor-in-chief of The Federalist and bestselling author, testified on Capitol Hill yesterday on the issue of election integrity. Her remarks were a grand slam home run. Here is a brief excerpt of her testimony:
“The American system of self-governance is under attack. Instead of an Election Day, where everyone votes at the same time, with the same full set of information, votes are counted quickly, and everyone promptly knows and trusts the outcome, we now have lengthy election seasons that can last months prior to and even after Election Day.
“The situation is so absurd that we have presidential and gubernatorial debates weeks after some people have already voted.
“Instead of having total security and a verifiable chain of custody for ballots being issued, cast and counted, we flood addresses across the country with tens of millions of unsupervised mail-in ballots months ahead of elections, frequently to locations from which voters, if they’re even alive, have long since moved.”

Defending Faith, Family & Freedom
In this week’s “Defending Faith, Family and Freedom” podcast for the James Dobson Family Institute, I expose the dark forces that are actively tearing America away from its Judeo-Christian founding and attempting to “fundamentally transform” our nation into a secular, neo-Marxist state.
